Executive Board

Our executive board is a small group of students who run HEPS from the inside. Executives pick the cycle topic, structure teams, lead onboarding workshops, review drafts, and coordinate the final submission to decision-makers. It’s the most hands-on way to be part of HEPS — and the most demanding. We’re looking for students with some combination of the following:

• Experience in debate, Model UN, journalism, or student government
• Strong writing skills and comfort with long-form research
• Interest in healthcare, public health, law, or bioethics
• Willingness to commit 5–8 hours per week during an active cycle

Executive board members are selected once per year and serve full cycles.

General Members

General members are the heart of every cycle. You’ll be placed on a team by angle — legal, medical, ethical, economic, or community voice — and contribute a section to the final policy brief. You’ll get hands-on training in policy writing, debate, and research methods, and your work will be published alongside the executive team’s.

There’s no experience required. We train everyone. If you’re curious, careful, and willing to do the reading, you belong here.

Advisory Board

The advisory board is how HEPS stays honest. We’re looking for physicians, attorneys, academics, public-health professionals, and nonprofit leaders who can review drafts, push back on weak arguments, and help us get our finished briefs in front of decision-makers who can act on them.

The commitment is light: one or two review rounds per cycle, plus occasional office hours with student teams. Advisors are credited publicly on every brief they review.
